Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Mindfulness.
This class helps you step out of your busy schedule each week and become mindful. Mindfulness is the process of attending to the present moment in an accepting and fully conscious manner. Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese method of body movements and poses that encourages harmony of energy.
Modern psychology now incorporates mindfulness as an effective treatment for all kinds of stress and to improve our lives.
During the class you can explore the effect of mindfulness in a silent and supportive manner. Silence allows us to focus our awareness on the present moment. The movements and poses are done whilst standing. There is a short break each half hour allowing for questions and discussions. After 1 hour of Qi Gong there is a guided sitting meditation for half an hour.
The last half hour is more advanced work including Tai Chi and the Tai Chi Sabre set. We are not affiliated with any Tai Chi organisations. Normally beginners go home after the meditation. However if you know Tai Chi, or want to learn it, you are welcome to join the final half hour.
Currently the cost is £8 per evening.

Newcomers should come 10 minutes early at 7.05pm The class begins at 7.15pm and ends at 8.45pm or 9.15pm if you do Tai Chi.
Hatha Yoga
Jane Slemmings has been practising Yoga for 25 years and teaching for 19 years. My very first adult Yoga class was held at The Friends Meeting House in Gidea Park and is still going strong!
She is a fully qualified Yoga teacher.

Yoga has many, many benefits including reducing stress and anxiety; improving sleep; reducing tension; improving concentration and increasing flexibility to name just a few. As well as relaxing the body and mind, Yoga can also improve energy and fitness levels.
Classes are friendly suitable for everyone regardless of age, gender or level of flexibility. Yoga treats everyone as individuals.
The class times in Gidea Park are as follows:-
Tuesdays 1.30-3.00pm
Tuesdays 7.30-9.00pm
Thursdays 10.00-11.30am
All classes are blended, available in person or on-line (Zoom) offering maximum flexibility for busy, modern lives.
